Hi, Friends today I want to introduce you a very famous recipe of Indian cuisine. Kadai Paneer Recipe is a mouth-watering recipe made from paneer cooked in a spicy gravy made of onions, tomatoes, capsicum and traditional Indian spices. It is one of the most popular Indian curries and cooked throughout the world. Kadai Paneer can be enjoyed with roti/chapati, plain parantha, naan or Jeera rice or Pulao.
This dish gets its name from Kadai, an Indian wok, which is essential for cooking Indian cuisines and used here to give a smoky flavor to paneer (Indian cottage cheese).
Paneer constitutes the main ingredient in this dish. Paneer or Indian cottage cheese is a fresh cheese common in South Asian cuisine. Even popular food chains like McDonalds India, Subway, Pizza Hut, Dominos have customized their menus to include special items with Paneer as the main ingredient. Paneer is used in making many different delicacies in Indian Cuisine and Kadai Paneer is the most popular of them.
So, friends let’s see the Kadai Paneer recipe Ingredients and Preparation Method step by step

Ingredients for Kadai Paneer Recipe

  • 250 gm Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), cubed
  • 2 Medium Sized Onions
  • 4-5 Large Tomatoes
  • 1 Medium Sized Green Bell Pepper / Capsicum
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 2 Tablespoon Butter/ Oil
  • 2-inch Ginger, grated
  • 5-6 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Coriander Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Crushed Dry Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Cilantro

Preparing masala paste for curry

  • In a grinding jar add the tomatoes and grind it into a smooth paste (do not add water).
  • Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • Now take the onions in the grinding jar and grind into a smooth paste (add a little water if required).
  • Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • In a grinding jar add the Ginger, Garlic and Green Chillies and grind it into a smooth paste (do not add water).
  • Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside.

Preparation for Kadai Paneer Recipe

  • Heat a pan and add butter or oil splitter cumin seeds, now reduce the heat to low and add Turmeric Powder, Kashmiri Red Chili Powder fry for at least 1 minute
  • Now add a paste of Ginger, Garlic and Green Chillies. and fry for a minute under medium heat.
  • Now add the onion paste to the pan. Fry them for 4-5 minutes till they turn golden brown.
  • Add the tomato puree to the pan. Fry them for 5-6 minutes till the raw aroma of the tomatoes goes away.
  • Now add Coriander Powder and Garam Masala to the gravy.
  • Thinly slice or chop the capsicums. Add them to the gravy and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 3/4 Cup Water to adjust the consistency along with Salt, according to taste. Then add 1/2 Cup Fresh Cream to the gravy. 
  • Heat a frying pan and add Dry Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi) for a minute now crush the leaves and add to the gravy.
  • Then add the Paneer Cubes and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with Cilantro.
  • Finally, Kadai Paneer is ready to serve hot with onion rings and lemon.
  • It goes well with Roti or Naan.
