with Raita.

Ingredients first and Preparation method step by step
Ingredients
for Tomato Rice
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 onions, diced
- Salt as per taste
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 cups diced tomatoes
- 11/2 cups basmati rice
- 3 cups water
- Chopped cilantro
- Add all ingredients to list
Preparation
of Tomato Rice
- Take a pan and add oil and heat it over medium heat
- Now add onions and fry until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes.
- when the onions are fried add salt, garlic, chilli powder, ginger, and turmeric and stir
- now add tomatoes into onion mixture mix it and cook until tomatoes soften 5 to 10 minutes.
- Finally add rice into onion-tomato mixture and pour in water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender, and liquid is absorbed, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Note: for 1 cup rice add 2 cups water.
- Finally garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with Raita
